I decided to head on down to Zonzo Estate. It is fair to say this was a great decision. I had heard a lot about the food and the wine, so of course was really excited to head down. The style of food is Italian share food. The first thing I noticed was the amazing setup and location.
A very family friendly place, with lovely architecture and beautiful views. The restaurant itself has a very rustic look. The staff are super inviting and you can see the kitchen and bar from your seats. The wine was delicious! All wine is from the Zonzo vineyard. We chose the Pinot noir. A very mellow pinot, that basically is perfect to drink with and without food. A wine that anyone can enjoy. Do recommend!
With food, we decided to put ourselves in the hands of the chef. What a decision it was! We started with
Antipasto Misto, which is a selection of cured meat, cheeses, olives and grilled vegetables.
Tiger prawns marinated in garlic, chili and parsley.
Crumbed artichoke hearts drizzled in vincotto.
Homemade meatballs pan fried with vincotto.
Everything tasted delicious. My personal favourite starters were the Tiger Prawns and the meatballs. The tiger prawns marinade was so flavoursome, with the garlic and parsley adding body to the prawns. The chilli had enough kick to keep you on you on your toes, but didn’t overpower anything.
The meatballs were cooked beautifully. Melt in your mouth, and the flavors were amazing too. Whatever herbs and spices were used in the meatballs are just to die for!
Next up were the mains. We were pretty stuffed by this stage so we kept it relatively light. We got two pizzas and a salad on side.
The pizzas we had were the Pizza Con Mascarpone and the Bianca Con Salmon Affumicata. While our salad was, radicchio, orange, balsamic and x.v olive oil. They were all great.
I really loved the Pizza Con Mascarpone which came with promodoro, mozzarella, walnuts, speck and mascarpone. All the ingredients on this pizza went really well together, a bit different to your typical pizza. Although it’s something I definitely recommend trying.
For dessert I had the Dolci Misti, a trio of mini desserts tiramisu, panna cotta and mousse di cioccolate. I really enjoyed all three of these desserts, I think my favorite was probably the mousse as I am a chocolate lover.
All in all, Zonzo Estate is a lovely place. They have great food, wine, staff and their friendly vibe suit all people. Whether it’s mother’s day, a family birthday or you just want to take your lady there for a good day out. Definitely hit it up! You won’t regret it.
